Samurai Cop 1989
Can't get enough of Christopher Nolan's spatially confused action sequences? The you'll love Samurai Cops disregard for continuity and spatial logic.
Not that it stops there.
A relentlessly inept festival crowd pleaser that reaches painful levels of hilarity, mostly whenever Matt Hanon delivers / reads his lines.

The Monster Squad 1987
The good old days ... when films for kids were allowed to actually scare kids, when 5 year old girls were allowed to swear or be called virgins, and when a fat kid (called 'fat kid' by his friends) could wield a shotgun. All good mischief making fun.

The Place Beyond the Pines 2013
This review reportedly contains spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Hardbodies 1984
Crude, lewd sex comedy that is consistently amusing, partially for its jokes and offbeat fashion, but mostly for its loopy mix of characters. In addition to featuring one of the highest movie boob counts ever, it gets extra points for a proto-George Costanza.

A Simple Life 2012
Continuing the 2012 theme of challenging films about getting old, A Simple Life is a sweet and amusing drama about the strength of love and friendship in facing sickness, old age and death. It transcends its straight forward premise and plot through brilliant writing and cinematography, giving a clear picture of growing old in Hong Kong, changing family dynamics and universal fears about ageing and dying alone. Its a pleasure to watch and acts as a non-preachy reminder about making decisions to be generous to your friends and families.

Trance 2013
If you enjoy watching a pretty clever plot idea murdered by wooden acting, terrible unnatural dialogue, and a structure that gives all the dramatic tension of a meditation tape then you'll, uh, love this. The core of the problem is that the majority of the film is spent in conversation about some pretty interesting plot tricks that occurred either in the films entertaining heist intro, or a year and a half prior in a secret series of events 'locked in…

G.I. Joe: Retaliation 2013
Playing more like an extended commercial for a toy range than a movie, GI Joe 2 successfully avoids developing characters, villains, a plot or consistency with a collage of dumb pop culture references and bad jokes. What elevates it slightly above the generic crap it is, is a host of unintentionally funny moments that provide a surprising amount of cynical pleasure.

Killer Joe 2012
A mischievous, ironic, black comedy romp with some cinema standard trailer park trash. The frequent jokes are consistently offensive and funny, and the plot manages to feel extreme within its small-town world.
And whilst McConaughey's Killer Joe runs the show, its actually dimwitted Thomas Haden Church and nymphette Juno Temple who give the film its heart.
