Ugh. Faux self-loathing from a member of the privileged class. What could more tiresome...
You could argue that Woody Allen has been doing that for four decades and I've only occasionally found that tiresome. Not, I should add that I'm saying that Dunham is in the same league. I actually think that comparisons with Allen are largely coming about because of the strategic book placement in the middle of this film and not because they're particularly similar in style.
