So, Er, The new Star Trek is pretty damn good.
From the moment Michael Giacchino’s beautiful score started Abrams had me hooked. Thankfully it didn't disappoint.
The first 10-15 minutes gave me a lot of hope for Star Wars episode VII. Felt very Star Wars-esque to me. Into Darkness has some wonderful twists and turns on the classic series but it really didn't bother me, it kept it very fresh and tense.
Great performances from Pine, Quinto, and Cumberbatch help…
I was expecting more Oblivion.
The visuals are spectacular, perhaps even flawless, and the sweeping soundtrack equally so, but these in no way reflect other aspects of the film.
I found the dialogue lazy and completely unrealistic, the acting was mediocre, and the plot completely predictable. The movie suffers from some pacing issues that could have been helped by some tighter editing.
The first half of the movie did a solid job of portraying the loneliness of a desolate earth…
