Gloomy Movies Set in the Cold
I can't say why but I tend to love dark movies that are set in icy, inhospitable places. This list is an attempt to collect some and to maybe find some more. Feel free to make suggestions!
Plus:
- The X-Files Season 1, Episode 8 ("Ice")
Nice. So let's collect!
What about Cold Prey Part 1 and 2?
I recommend "The Edge" and the korean movie "Antarctic Journal" (both awesome flicks)
Once again. "Fargo" (great) and "The Thaw" (average but maybe you'll like it).
Thanks guys! I'll add all of these (apparently there's even another sequel to Cold Prey), and will try to get my hands on them. I remember having seen parts of The Edge as a kid, though. And Fargo has been on my watchlist way too long now!
O.k., good to know there is a third part of "Cold Prey". Maybe not for this list, but if you like these settings, don't miss the awesome classic X-files episode "Ice".

I must admit I've never seen the show (only the first movie, which was okay I guess), but will definitely give this one a shot. Maybe I'll become a fan after all ;) Cheers!
Yeah, the list is growing :) here another freezing title: "Affliction" by Paul Schrader with Nick Nolte. Great Movie, by the way!!!
This is going very well indeed! The last time I saw Nick Nolte was in Gangster Squad, and his acting was awful. Affliction looks good though!
I just saw the X-Files epsiode. Basically The Thing in 45 minutes, though less gory and more focussed on the characters being suspicious of each other. And that doctor totally looked like a Martin Sonneborn doppelganger!
Sonneborn: yes, indeed!
"The Thing": yes, indeed!
If you consider the fact, that this is the early 8th episode, produced by a low budget and yet not surfin on an wave of maximum success, it s obvious, how brilliant this part is made. Especially, if you compare it for instance with "Whiteout" or "The Last Winter".
Although I have to admit that the acting, even Duchovny and Anderson's, seemed a bit amateurish at times. But I probably shouldn't judge a show I've now seen a single episode of ;)
