I wish I had known more about American History (/Politics), but, blame my education or myself, I don't. That made this otherwise great movie a little hard to follow at times

I felt really old watching this

I was really looking forward to this one but for some reason it didn't deliver. I'm not sure what I expected from it, but I found the story a bit bland. It didn't really capture me and I was unsure who was fighting whom and why. The idea of the story appealed to me, though. And I just might read the book.

Sure, I've heard people talk about Gladiator before. My boyfriend has been pushing for us to watch this movie for quite some time now. I don't know why I was hesitant to watch it. I guess it was because Romans don't really interest me and the thought of watching gladiator fights didn't particularly appeal to me. But I was wrong. It's not a movie about violence, it's a movie about love (and epic fighting). So thank you, boyfriend, for making me watch this movie.
