A remake of Romero's classic debut film. "Barbie" legs it from a cemetery, where her aunt is due to be buried, after her brother, Johnny, is attacked. She ends up at a crematorium where she sees that the dead are walking around eating people. Later on, she's rescued by "Ben" and taken to his house where his friends and family try to survive the zombie outbreak.
Utter shambles of a film. What a mess. I really wanted to like it. I tried. I usually do enjoy low budget, ham-fisted zombie films, but I don't know whether it's because it has offended my sensibilities so much that I hate it, or whether it's such a shit film that I hate it. Either way, I hate it. Just terrible. The remake from the 90s wasn't so bad; in fact, I quite liked it. But this is crap. The only redeeming features are the make up (which generally is pretty good, if a little OTT) and there are a decent-ish 5-10 minutes of the film where Gerald (the owner of the crematorium) arrives and explains what's been going on. But that's it, really. Nothing else to get excited about, but lots to be pissed off/annoyed about. I've seen worse films than this, and I have to take into account a natural bias due to my affection for the original, so I'll score it slightly higher than I really want to...
