Owen Hughes’s review:
I thought it was a very up and down film. At times, I thought it was really good, at other times, I thought it was a bit crap. The way it starts, with Sam witnessing the murder, looked really good, but the next 10-20 minutes were a little..... less good. Just found that period a little slow and boring.
The characters were interesting if a little simple, and the way it looked/some scenes were shot, was great, but certain main plot twists were ridiculous. But then what happened as a result of those stupid plot twists were really quite enjoyable to watch. Like I say, a very up and down film. Every 10 minutes I was changing my mind about how much I liked it.
The ending is a perfect example of this. Without giving anything away: the unravelling of the mysterious noise on the tape = lame. The discovery of the killer = good. The running around town = good. The reveal = bad. The penultimate scene = good. The explanation = bad.
Just a very peculiar film that I think, overall, I liked a lot, but disliked a lot too. Very strange. Quite an enjoyable experience watching it, though.
