Owen Hughes’s review:
Unfortunately, I thought it was quite dated. It didn’t age well, and I’m sorry but I preferred the remake.
I thought I’d seen it before, but didn’t actually recognise any of it, oddly. How does it compare to the remake? Well, the crazies are actually more vulgar in the remake. In this, they just go a bit nuts. Some scenes, however, were quite shocking in their lack of vulgarity - I’m talking about the father and daughter scene, when the fireman guy finds them...... Hmm. I won't say any more, except that it's quite tense, indeed.
It’s not that I didn’t like it; I did. It just felt very rough around the edges. Romero has made much better films since.
