Owen Hughes’s review:
Great performance from Kidman, highlighted in every scene with the way the film is shot. There seems to be some great tricks with the camera used, with some scenes looking like they're going one way, and the shots are all leading you in that direction, then somehow ... it changes. I'm not really explaining this well . Like, you think you see someone in the mirror, and then you're just expecting a typical horror film scene of the person walking away and the blurry figure in the mirror that you can just about make out will follow them, but actually, the camera focuses a bit and then you really see what's going on. Just found it quite clever. They didn't seem to repeat the same trick at all, but had lots of nice little touches like that that I appreciated. Sounds like I've never seen a film like this at all! Oh well. I know what I mean.
It's a weird film. I could've sworn I'd seen it before, but didn't recognise anything. Yet, somehow, found the plot slightly predictable, almost to the point that I must've seen it before because I knew exactly how it was going to end within the first 3 minutes. I just have no recollection of it at all. Oh well, just meant I enjoyed it again.
