Punishment Park 1971
Punishment Park is possibly one of the scariest and most intense portrails of government oppression. Eerily filmed in the desert, it's near impossible to not feel compassion for the hunted idealists unless you're as morally corrupted as the oppressive force are present here. The Elephant Man 1980
It's rather odd that Lynch followed up to his stylishly macabre feature debut Eraserhead with one of his most touching and human story about John Merrick, the Elephant Man. With Anthony Hopkins' good nature toward John Hurt's Merrick and casual banter, Lynch was really aiming for a crowd pleaser whilst retaining his dingy, fleshy aesthetic which we've come to love about the old maverick.
