No Country for Old Men 2007 ★★★★★

A brilliant cocktail of technique and writing that consistently captures a theme of emptiness with clarity. The empty west Texas landscape and sparse use of sound (there is practically no music at all) are a perfect backdrop for the fascinating psychology of its central characters.

The film is content to be just what it is, explore the lives of its characters, and move on.
