Hudson Hawk 1991 ★★½

Rewatched Jun 18, 2012

A vanity project of Bruce Willis that's not without it's fun points, Hudson Hawk is clearly written by the star. Where a screen-writing pro would have probably reigned it all in a bit and fleshed out the support roles, Willis' characters are mostly cardboard cut-outs (apart from titular Hawk and a game Danny Aiello's Tommy), the puns are way on the wrong side of corny and it's a little too self-indulgent at times.
Whilst it's easy to forgive the japery when it's funny, Richard E Grant and Sandra Bernhard are some of the most trying screen villains ever seen and it also contains one of the most irritating moments in cinema history, namely Andie MacDowell's 'comedy' dolphin impression....
