Martin Scorsese delivered a phenomenal criminal drama that perfectly illustrated the underbelly of Ireland depicting betrayal, treachery and deception amongst South Boston’s underworld. Though to be blunt, it lacked in charisma and failed to provide any genuine plot surprises and astonishments. Scenes were very much foreseeable and predictable. Far too much deliberate violence and needed enigmatic twists and should have made you think about what you were watching. All characters were easily understandable. A really strong film with potential but failed to be a great film.
