Stillman's always been kind of odd, but here director & crew seem to be working on a different, weirder plain, somewhere between earnestness and cynicism. Is it post-post-modern screwball or just literate dumbness? Even though DAMSELS doesn't always work, I found myself laughing at the droll blackness often. So, why not? Let's sambola!
