The Naked City 1948

Paul Corupe’s review:
This pretentious police procedural from Jules Dassin was quickly overshadowed by follow-up works that made the once “gritty” NYC locations and plot seem unacceptably stagey. A precinct of cops attempts to solve the murder of a fashion model who was tied up in a stolen jewlery ring. Dassin tries to give a flavour of the city by adding conversations from peripheral characters, but it never works like he probably intended.
