Contemplative and beautifully photographed. I very much enjoyed this film although I understand that the "leisurely" pace can be boring to some. Perhaps the cinematography kept me interested while it may not be sufficient for others. Small detail but probably only an "old time" photographer would notice... the unmistakable sound of a classic Leica camera's shutter release was authentic. Anton Corbijn must have insisted on this!

An intelligent, well acted and superbly shot film from the point of view of Jean-Dominique Bauby. Very original visual and aural treatment that works very well at making the viewer identify with the subject's pain and isolation.

Almost experimental. Great soundtrack. Moody as hell. Tracking shots like those of Birth. Reminds me of Roeg's "The Man Who Fell to Earth" in that the film is experienced through the eyes of the alien. Not much is explained. I like the mystery.

This is one film that did not appeal to me in the least. I was not even particularly impressed by the cinematography. I won't criticize this one because my feelings about it are obviously biased.
