Declaration of War 2012 ★★★★

Watched Jun 29, 2012

Splendid! Declaration of War is not exactly an autobiographical film, though there are certainly elements of it, not a medical drama as it steers clear of the 'disease of the week' movie (besides the outcome happens right at the beginning), it has some fantasy elements to it, characters do break out and sing in a musical interlude, it has comedic moments, but it's not a comedy either.

Using personal experience and turn into something special and poignant without going overboard with the melodrama or quirk(Miranda July take note). Donzelli and Elkaïm don't want us to despair but instead asks the audience to look at this as part of their journey as parents and human beings.

Highly recommended.
