This is what I want from American cinema.

Matthew McConnaughey gives a 10/10 performance and has over the last couple years became a genuine actor. Outstanding.

However, the young Tye Sheridan gives an 11/10. An unbelievable performance.

First time I seen Gran Torino was when it first got released. I absolutely loved it and thought it was excellent, and I knew I would own it on DVD. Having recently just bought it I have now seen it for the 2nd time.
Watching it back, I still find it great, but I found the racist slurs and comments just pointless. Okay, we get it, Walt Kowalski is an old grumpy curmudgeonly racist bastard, you don't need to drop in a pointless slur every 2minutes to hammer home the point.
Oh, and the young actor who plays Tao is terrible.
