Aaron Simler’s review:
Unrelentingly bleak and defiantly anti-commercial. It what is apparently his final film, Bela Tarr delivers...well the ultimate Bela Tarr film. Most definitely not for all tastes - those unaware better know what they are in for before seeing this otherwise they are in for a miserable experience. And I suppose that is the point. After all, this is a film about what the end of the world will look like. Two people and a plate of boiled potatoes. And the wind, the howling wind. Tarr goes out on a strong note - the film is something close to brilliant if you're in the right frame of mind for it.
