Philip Kennedy’s review:
There are some interesting ideas here that never get to reach their true potential when wrapped around a fairly generic plot. Weak characters and an uncertainty toward who the film's protagonist is means that Prometheus lacks the emotional edge which it really needs.
That said, there's some good things in here too. Certainly there's plenty of spectacle, as well as some interesting themes underneath the surface. Fassbender gives a wonderful performance and his role as David kept me glued to my seat for the film's 124 minutes.
It's also great to see a film which has people talking. Prometheus is a film which really seems to have people dissecting it and arguing over it. Splitting opinions and getting really mixed reactions. You can say what you like about 'cash-ins' and 'prequels', a film which gets people talking is always a good thing in my book.
Crew
Definitely. And it's certainly done a lot of that!
Spot on review, I completely agree with you
