Phil Newton’s review published on Letterboxd:
A few deserters from the English Civil War flee across a field in search of an ale house when they run into an alchemist who wants them to look for buried treasure. High on mushrooms, tension, paranoia and possible supernatural events occur. Made on a tiny budget over two weeks, it's an experimental trip matched by its innovative multi-platform release strategy. Ben Wheatley has proved he's one of the UK's most exciting filmmakers, however A Field In England is deliberately obtuse to a level where it's hard to invest in the characters and situations that they find themselves caught up in. On the plus side, the film's composition and score is brilliant.
