As China prepare for the coronation of their first Empress, a couple of officials spontaneously combust whilst working on the huge Buddha statue. Exiled Detective Dee is summoned to investigate... This is a hugely ambitious (and successful) action adventure, but suffers from a serious tone where a little fun and levity would have enhanced the story no end.
