Why does my mother like these sort of movies? And why does she make me watch them with her? Why mom? WHY?

Horrible story, acting, dialogue, pacing; everything, in short. The premise is not as original or intriguing as they tried to make themselves believe, and I gave up caring about plot holes about 30 minutes in. In case you are still curious: instead of just being grateful he gets to live, the protagonist's brand new heart beats (literally) to the sound of righteous vengeance and leads him into a rather confusing murderous rampage.
