"Extract" is the first film I've fallen asleep during in a long time. Considering I started the film relatively early and the fact that it's only 91 minutes, I think that's a pretty bad sign.
This just isn't a funny movie. The jokes all fall flat, the plot is completely underdeveloped, the characters are all uninteresting and the ending feels forced. I have to give credit to Jason Bateman and Mila Kunis for trying to make the most of their characters, but everybody is so poorly written that even typically funny actors like Kristen Wiig and JK Simmons are relegated to bland, forgettable roles. Ben Affleck actually steals the film, but that's not saying much- his character was the only person with remotely humorous lines.
Unfortunately, this wasn't a very good movie. It's not insultingly bad and is certainly watchable, but it fails to be anything more than bland and really isn't funny in the slightest.
