This is a very user-friendly movie. When a new character is introduced, the film also shows the most notable previous credit of the actor. No more "Who's that guy?" Taichi 0 tells you. The kung fu moves are also diagrammed and named on screen. This is also a very efficient movie in that the end credits contain the trailer for the sequel. The future truly belongs to China.
I would give this 10 stars and the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor of All Time to John Lazar if I could. This is the Hollywood film pushed past its breaking point. Also, the editing! Especially at Z-Man's first party. Unbelievable.
Suggested double features for BVD:
1. Model Shop: films by outsiders let into the system
2. The Devil's Cleavage: burlesques on Hollywood melodramas
3. Once Upon a Time in the West: genres taken to their conclusion. (Also see 1).
