This is a totally entertaining and fun film. Humorous and on the edge of out-right spoof yet hardcore when it wants to be. It's a full on celebration of horror films. It unabashedly pokes fun at the usual horror conventions but delights in playing with the genre. The film booked along at a quick pace never leaving me bored but also never feeling rushed. The dialog is often witty though generally not overly "cute", just the right amount of Whedon in my opinion.
The end of the film is a total joy ride. It takes a wicked good turn that I enjoyed quite a bit. It's one of those concepts that in different (less fun) films you might say, "that's a cool idea but what if they took it further?" This film takes it there, it says, "Let's get this party started!" If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about...really enjoyed that certain "lack of restraint". Again, it doesn't shy away from pushing the humor into some ridiculous areas. It embraces it's attitude and comes out a truly fun experience as a result. It's not going to win any awards for the direction or the FX but this doesn't hurt the film at all, it's not that kind of flick.
Most definitely worth the price of admission, I would say it's the most fun I've had at the theater in a long time. Highly recommend, particularly for horror fans.
