Rick Dabagian’s review:
I didn't enjoy this as much as Before Sunrise, but it's still a nice little movie.
It takes a little while to get started, not unlike two people seeing each other again for the first time in many years. Unfortunately it's over very soon after it gets going; The running time is only 77 minutes.
Beyond that I think Sunrise was more organic, natural, and maybe deeper. I think that's definitely true about the actors the first time around. Sunset had a little less Jesse and a bit more Ethan Hawke. Less meaningful metaphoric conversations and more up front sharing of feelings
But it's still nice to see the characters again and there are some nice scenes. Still a pleasure to watch but a real shame that it is so short.
I also preferred the first one to the 2nd. She really got on my nerves in the 2nd one. (I always confuse the titles, hence my references to 1st and 2nd).
They both got on my nerves a little here and there but I think that was the writing's fault. Following up the first movie was not an easy task so I'll give it a pass
I too prefer the first film to the second, but they are both excellent. Have you watched 2 Days In Paris or her new one yet? I feel like they are almost continuations of this series, but with just a bit of a different feel to them.
I loved 2 Days in Paris, even more than Before Sunrise. Haven't seen the New York one yet, but looking forward to it.
