Rick Dabagian’s review:
2.5 or 3 stars? I'll settle on 3 because horror fans will probably appreciate this more than me.
Another Ti West film, the second I've seen, and far inferior to The House of the Devil. West is a great director and both these films were really great to look at, but Innkeepers falls apart at the climax.
The story follows two young hotel workers during the hotel's closing weekend. We soon find out that they are amateur ghost hunters and one of them runs a website dedicated to the haunted hotel they work at; They are trying to find some real proof before the hotel shuts down for good. Similar to House of the Devil, the set up is slow but interesting. But like I mentioned, the climax didn't work for me.
The acting ranges from subpar to average. I thought the characters were kind of lame. Some of the dialogue is good, some not so good. I'm on the fence about this one, but I'll keep up with Ti West in the future.
