Before Sunrise 1995 ★★★★★

Reviewed Jan 28, 2012

Imagine meeting someone you share an immediate and intimate connection with someone so beautiful, it melts your heart. It's everyone's dream coming true. The twist: you are only one night in town. While the premise of Richard Linklaters "Before Sunrise" sounds like a typical get-the-girl film, it is the direct opposite of that - although attraction and tension still play an important role in the constellation of characters.
Jesse doesn't need to get the girl because he already has her from the start. Their connection is, while a physical part of course can never be denied, on a deep emotion and philosophical level. Their night in Vienna is one to remember. It's everyone's dream coming true on screen and it still manages to never even once come close to being cliché or looking for the easy way out. Beautifully acted and intelligently written and directed, this romantic sucker will always a place in my heart.

  • Eigentlich bin ich nicht gerade der Film-Romantiker, aber der Streifen hier klingt einfach mal ziemlich interessant... danke für den Tipp :)
