Rootbean’s review:
A Mummy’s Boy Renegade cum Angelic Swashbuckler interacts with Samurai’s, Nazi’s, SWAT guys and bureaucrats whilst stalking a woman. A lighthearted but dark retro-futuristic world of cold hearted capitalist totalitarianism. It feels like a mashed up psychedelic children’s teatime programme made by a subversive acid user with fairly ham eighties effects. This world revolves around ducts and information with parodies of capitalism, totalitarianism, nepotism and bureaucracy much like our own present day earth! I could see Time Bandits and 12 Monkeys in there, as well as Bjork’s Army of Me music video? The end was the best, the middle quite boring and the beginning OK. Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas remains Gilliam’s best work.
