Tune!
Sean Penn's mumbling rock casualty is enjoyable in this quirky comedy. There were moments when I thought this film might just end up brilliant. it's a good story but it didn't quite make it. Initially it's a bit confusing but the relationships between characters are clarified as we roll on. I've got one eye brow raised at the hammy moments and another raised at pointless imagery? Lets not be too hasty though, they are only minor gripes, heavily over-plucked raised eyebrows if you will.
For clarity the DVD gave the choice of watching the Cannes or UK version. I dunno?! I watched the UK version but I dunno what the difference is, more importantly I don't care (but you might). I don't want to choose which version to watch, I want the film maker to choose which version to release, I haven't got time to mess about like Cheyenne has.
Seen mixed reviews about this. Now I don't want the director to decide which version I should watch, I want you to decide if I should watch it.
I've got a feeling you'll like it. Doboworth gave it 3.5, me 4.0, Jo liked it. You'll probably like Sean Penn, and the story is pretty good, there's just a few irritations, but with me being grumpier and more negative than you, I suspect they'll bother you less. Watch it! Toss a coin for the version.
