The first Transformers was a guilty pleasure, and while I was watching Transformers 3, I had to keep reminding myself why I liked the first one. Maybe again it was the low expectations. In this movie I thought the sequence of the toppling building was excellent, Leonard Nimoy gives a robust voice performance, and I appreciate Shia's focus and intensity as he is acting. He is definitely earning his money and trying to sell the action sequences with every ounce of his energy. I think he's very successful. The rest of the movie is awful, though. Some of the absolute worst "humor" I've ever seen. And let's face it; Optimus Prime is a boring hero with no personality, even for an alien robot.
