Robin Layfield’s review:
Great documentary from Chris Rock. It explores the Black American obsession with having "good hair" - straight hair, free from curls.
Where this hair comes from, who supplies it, who buys it and how much it actually costs is a mystery to most people, including those that wear it. The chemical processes involved are frightening yet can be routinely applied to four year old girls in the form of a 'kiddee perm'.
It's eye-opening and fascinating and Chris Rock tackles the subject with humanity and charisma. And of course a whole lot of humour.
