  • The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 2014

    ★★★½ Watched 19 Feb, 2015

Jennifer Lawrence is still not my favourites, but I liked the film overall. Maybe more than the previous films. Rest in peace Phillip, I guess this was his last film. To be continued.

  • Hell Baby 2013

    ★★★½ Watched 16 Feb, 2015

I was entertained. Dark, over the top humor got into me really bad, laughed my ass off many times. Good fun, but not for all serious Sams out there.

  • Hercules 2014

    ★★½ Watched 08 Feb, 2015

Action film with clichées. Not much to say. Watchable, but almost not worth it.

  • Monsterman 2014

    ★★★½ Watched 08 Feb, 2015

I remember my neighbour's only son was a die hard Lordi fan in the 90s when I was little. When Lordi won the Eurovision in 2006, of course I liked it as many Finns back then. Yet, the music was not for me. Too generic rock, although I have always respected Putaansuu's ambition and character - he does what he likes to do and does it with passion.

The documentary projects Finnish melancholy at its best. It's raw description of…

  • Byzantium 2012

    ★★★½ Watched 08 Feb, 2015

Good vampire films never seize to bore me. Byzantium is different, interesting, one of a kind film starred with underrated actors like Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Arterton and Sam Riley. Really liked the time aspect here, and gentle, almost poetic atmosphere. Something was missing though, was it the looseness of the ending or irrational choices here and there, but overally this film is worth it. Underrated.

  • Chariot 2013

    ★★ Watched 07 Feb, 2015

Low budget, mediocre acting, silly plot holes. Watchable, but not very enjoyable watching experience overall.

  • Whiplash 2014

    ★★★★★ Watched 07 Feb, 2015

I still remember the drumming classes in primary school, although later I got into piano and guitar and considering myself more of a pianist anyway. But I remember the discipline the male teacher had. I was just starting, but I held the drumstick wrong and he shouted "if I ever see that thumb like that again, I will cut it off!". I panicked, got really anxious, but I sure hell remembered how to hold the stick after that. And I…

  • The Taking of Deborah Logan 2014

    ★★½ Watched 02 Feb, 2015

I admit Alzheimer's is a scary disease. The film starts off promising, but ends up being quite ridiculous. There's too many of thes hand held modern horror flicks, this is no different, you'll know what to expect. Overally decent fun, but really cheap, one time mediocre entertaiment. Would have passed.

  • Last Passenger 2013

    ★★ Watched 01 Feb, 2015

Like Unstoppable, but more dull. As a train engine driver's son spotted annoying stuff here and there. Mediocre acting, shallow plot. Not very exciting for a thriller. Skippable stuff you can barely watch while hung over.

  • Saving Mr. Banks 2013

    ★★★★ Watched 01 Feb, 2015

Great drama based in history of Mary Poppins. Really liked the acting, Emma Thompson is the perfect choice for this kind of roles. Tom Hanks as Walt is heartwarming. Keen on finding out more about them...

  • Autómata 2014

    ★★★ Watched 31 Jan, 2015

Quite different for Antonio Banderas. Visually great. Messy story, didn't really catch up with it, feels like all over the place. Liked most of it.

  • The Babadook 2014

    ★★★★ Watched 29 Jan, 2015

Excellent, stylish, creepy. Really liked that they used simple elements to scare in this film, instead of effects or jumpscares. Quite classic approach, which I respect very much. Liked it a lot. Recommended.
