  • I'll Follow You Down 2013

    ★★★ Watched 20 Jul, 2014

How stupid name is that? Where has Haley Joel Osment been? I guess I haven't seen him since the Sixth Sense or A.I. He was quite good back then, can't say the same today. Well, he is not the worst, but something is holding his acting back. No emotion whatsoever, in any point. Too bad.

As for the film, I enjoyed the story quite a bit. Overally good film. However it felt like they wanted to concentrate more on the…

  • Sabotage 2014

    ★★★ Watched 20 Jul, 2014

Arnold still can't act really well, but he's legendary. I liked this film. Not much of a plot, but there are surprising twists anyway. It's also quite depressive I have to say. Solid action with some ridiculous jokes and some lack of chemistry. Overally just those action films you can watch without greater regrets.

  • Blue Ruin 2013

    ★★★½ Watched 18 Jul, 2014

Quite mysterious thriller, because they don't tell the back story much. That's quite bold and I like that. Most of the stuff is left to the viewer and some bits get revealed while watching. The main character is sympathetic. Haven't seen Macon Blair much in the films but I like him. A very enjoyable drama-thriller with surprising pace. A true hidden gem.

  • Nymphomaniac: Vol. II 2013

    ★★½ Watched 18 Jul, 2014

Well, after being watched these separately and different times I regret it. Should have watched as one like Love Exposure which is also over 4 hours long. The film is not bad, not great either. Can't really form a true opinion about it. As I said, the dialogue is great, it also describes some parts of the human nature really well. It may be sexist, provocative, but it is intelligent. That might be one of the few things I liked in the film. Things I didn't like can be read from my other rather subjective review here.

  • Crystal Fairy & the Magical Cactus 2013

    ★★½ Watched 14 Jul, 2014

I don't get it. It feels like I sat 98 minutes still without doing nothing. Not much happens in this film. You just watch it and wait something interesting to happen, but it never escalates to that point. I don't see any reason for this film, why was it made, what was the point?

I like Michael Cera. I liked most of the guys. I even liked the most annoying character of the film in the end, but finishing the…

  • Nymphomaniac: Vol. I 2013

    ★★ Watched 14 Jul, 2014

All right. I thought it would be worse. I loved the conversations, dialoques and drama. Nothing wrong with the artistic aspect either. I found the explicit stuff useless, but interesting, however I wouldn't be watching this with my mom. Not the most boring film, but pretty slow anyway. I don't see the reason why it wouldn't be just one film instead of two longer ones.

I loved Melancholia. Hated Antichrist. Didn't sit through Dogville. Charlotte Gainsbourg is acting in this…

  • Noah 2014

    ★★½ Watched 13 Jul, 2014

Solid effect-packed adventure film with all the ridiculousness. Watchable and not the worst I've seen. Some irrationalities and not very original but other than that I found it quite enjoyable colored story shallowly based on bible. Not bad, not great either. Just simple, good fun.

  • Labor Day 2013

    ★★★ Watched 12 Jul, 2014

Labor Day is a solid drama film. Slow, but not boring. Josh Brolin is brilliant, can't say the same about Kate Winslet for some reason. A bit skipping in the end considering the slow nature of the plot overall, but that doesn't matter that much. Can be even suspenseful towards the end. Nice, watchable drama film about life and love, can't complain.

  • Transcendence 2014

    ★★★★★ Watched 12 Jul, 2014

Singularity is the topic that has been intriguing me for a while, besides the general tech of course. Transcendence is like 'Her' taken further. I loved the idea and the execution. Acting, effects and plot are well done. The ending is satisfying. This is a matter of taste and I'm a huge fan of this kind of 'philosophical' scifi, but can't think anything bad to say about this film. Watch it and decide yourself.

  • Love Exposure 2008

    ★★★★★ Watched 11 Jul, 2014

"What's the film like?", well it's hard to describe with a few sentences. Love exposure is insane. The movie is crazy, irritating, ridiculous, stupid, funny, moving, exciting, surreal, fascinating, wonderful, silly, provocative, amazing. Well, you could describe the film with only one word. Japan.

It's peculiar that a four hour film can feel so short. Time goes faster, so to speak. It is even more peculiar that the same film gets you laugh, grin and weep. In its all insanity…

  • Enemy 2013

    ★★★★½ Watched 07 Jul, 2014

One of the few films that keep me thinking very long time after the credits. Despite the slowness it wasn't a tad bit boring. Jake Gyllenhaal is great, as always. Enjoyed it thoroughly and may want to watch it again. Completely insanely well crafted film. Not only the brilliant mysteriousness and interestingness but I only loved the atmosphere. You have to see this one.
