Scariest soft-ish modern horror films
FYI, I don't get much scared of those torture-porn gore flicks. I get the best scares by the simplest psychological horror films or ghost stories. These are the movies that genuinely scared me in some way, if not directly googesbumps, at least some nice shockers.
With "The Thing" (1982-style), you have one of the greatest of all horror films. With "House on Haunted Hill" and "The Others" you have some of my personal favorites. I really need to get to making one of these for me!

More of a Psychological thriller, but Session 9 is a favourite of mine.
I hated The Uninvited though. I'd suggest checking out the much better A Tale of Two Sisters; the Korean film that it's based on.
Oh, I've seen Session 9, gave it 3/5. Not that scary, a bit messy movie. I've also seen "Janghwa, Hongryeon" and really hated it, it was boring compared to the remake.

Ryan, I have seen it years ago. Del Boy, Once again I have to disagree with you. It was not that scary, but a creepy psychological thriller. I gave it 3½.

It's highly, highly, highly recommended. Violent, but scary all the same.
Watched it last night. Only last twenty minutes were "scary". Not that scary or creepy overall. Mixed feelings about that film. Thanks for the recommendation!
@Roni You're welcome! It's very hard to judge how people will react to Kill List, but I just tell them to watch it anyway. ;)
I can say it wasn't bad film, but wasn't overally great either. Didn't regret I watched it though. Any more recommendations? :-)
