The recommendations list
It's hard for me to get recommendations these days (at least from the regular people), because I have watched quite a lot of them. But as for the Letterboxd, I have all the movie geeks around me, so I guess it wouldn't be hard to get some tips.
First I have to say, I mostly love movies made during or after the year when I was born (1988). 21st century films appeal me the most. I have this huge bias with the older movies. You can say I'm one of the biscuit/pussy -new generation kid, but older movies usually tend to bore me. There are lots of exceptions, I for example loved Le voyage dans la lune (1902), one of the greatest films ever made.
So, recommend me a movie you like, but if it's older than 80s film, I demand some arguments why do you think it's great (I don't mind if you tell me why anyways).
I love almost every genre, but I mostly like (not in any particular order) horror, scifi, thriller and action. For me the movie has to be enjoyable on some level.
I'm a huge fan of Gerard Depardieu, so definitely going to watch Jean De Florette. Thanks!
In case you haven't seen this, I'd like to recommend...
Thursday
Pontypool
Dellamorte Dellamore (Cemetary Man)
Brainscan
The Cottage
If you don't like Tree of Life, then Super is completely different, but entertaining. The tone's uneven, but it's very funny. :)
Thanks! SilentJoe13, I have seen Thursday, Pontypool and The Cottage, but added those two on this list. DriveFiction19, That's already on my watchlist but added it on this list as well.
This list is kind of a list that overrules my ever-growing watchlist, because sometimes it's quite hard to decide. You may know the feeling.
Del Boy, In fact I don't really know why I've missed that film, because usually I watch those types of films no matter when they are made. And it's Steven Spielberg, my fav actors. Definitely going to watch soon.
I recently watched Eureka starring Gene Hackman and Rutger Hauer. It is fucking weird and contains the best exploding head in cinema history. 4 out of 5.
Interesting. Thanks.
One of my favourites is Confessions, a Japanese revenge tale. That's the one that I think of immediately.
Yep, Kokuhaku (2010), seen that one. A good movie.
