I definitely would not even put this film in the same league as Deliverance. Not a chance in hell.
It was a joke, based on the privileged guys getting offed in the backwards backwoods.
I can't help but love just how goofy and unapologetic this movie is. The film-makers knew what they were doing and weren't afraid of it, and that's how I want my stupid horror movies - fully aware of how stupid they are, and having fun with it.
Plus, it actually has some nice production values. The cinematography is pretty cool and the music is awesome. I also adore the cover art.
