Safe House 2012
A decent, if forgettable, thriller. It has it's moments, and is an easy watch, but it is simply Bourne-lite.
-
Company of Heroes 2013
Yeaaaaah...terrible. Some of the worst CG blood this side of youtube is just one of the annoyances of this rubbish game adaptation.
-
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery 1997
Hilarious and superbly entertaining, one of the last great Myers comedies.
-
28 Days Later... 2003
The first act is far superior to the rest of the film, but it is still a classic horror.
-
The Five-Year Engagement 2012
The first twenty minutes is hilarious, but soon after the couple arrives in Michigan the pace and laugh rate nosedive, and though it picks up a little at the end this becomes an unfocused, unfunny mess.

Bridge to Terabithia 2007
Let down by some Nickelodeon level production values, and poor acting, this is an intriguing look at imagination and loss, and the effect they have on children. The marketing was hugely wrongheaded when this came out, and is not at all what I expected.

Cloud Atlas 2012
It loses half a star for some poor make-up but this is otherwise an utterly thrilling and boldly ambitious, if it seems widely misunderstood, movie for the ages. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future this is considered a true classic, and a defining movie of our age.

Beasts of the Southern Wild 2012
An original and meditative look at an interesting, and little seen, subject.
