I had to think for a little while before rating and reviewing this, because while I could say with certainty that I liked this film, I wasn't at all sure what to say. I have the feeling this will improve on re-watches. The art direction and animation in this film is incredible, as is the score. There are some incredibly dreamlike sequences, which blend perfectly with the action. If I had any problem, it's that the plot is incredibly dense, especially in the first half. It takes a little while, and a lot of concentration, to really get into the film and feel confident in understanding what's happening (hence why this would improve on a re-watch). It is, however, a mesmerising watch, and one that will leave you thinking afterwards, just like a good science fiction should do.
