Letterboxd — Your life in film

What to say that hasnt been said? Its an amazing film, from the acting, to the music, the cinematography.

Personally its one of my favourite films of the last 10 years. I cant say much more than that.

I cant talk about it.

A monster mash-up of '50s sci-fi, late-'70s / early '80s event movie and autobiography, Super 8 doesn’t possess the top-to-bottom greatness of the films it’s modelled on but, in shooting for the stars, leaves 90% of modern blockbusters in the gutter.

In my own humble opinion, one of the best movies ever made. The atmosphere the film creates is incredible. Also the acting all round is sublime.
Add in a tremendous script and score (not to mention the wonderfully original plot) and you have without doubt one of the top asian films ever made.

See it, never forget it.

I went into this film knowing full well the praise it had from various publications. And my expectations were exceded. Andy Serkis as Ceasar was stunning and i really think he deserved more praise for his mo-cap work.

Watch it. If you dont like it, you should not be watching films....

Decent film. Nice atmosphere, solid performances.

Heartbreaking, real, honest. Thats the first 3 words that spring to mind when i think about this film. It really is great piece of work.

Gosling and Williams are bloody amazing as the leads and the whole movie has a real subtlety to it.

Many people expect some typical romantic drama, dont. Its anything but. Some of the scenes had me smiling, laughing, crying, angry, sad. It really is a film that fills you with various emotions.

Wow, i was blown away. The performances were superb, the actual mma scenes were well shot and believable and it really packs an emotional punch. I cried.

Its a fantastic film, its just a shame it didnt get more recognition at award shows, it seems not many people have seen it either. I can see it becoming something of a cult classic.

Felt it was overlong. Found it a bit boring at times but it did have it moments.

A heartwarming and utterly heartbreaking film. Brilliant performances all round.

Yawn. I thought it was bloody terrible. It was obviously made for people who have no idea how film making works or proper horror. Every "scary" moment was predictable, the acting i felt was wooden and one dimensional.

Terrible. Although i know some people are fond of it. Iv seen better and scarier films shot with a phone in a toilet.

One of the very best action movies of the 80s.

Arnie, as in all his 80s action films, is on top form. From the epic one liners to the over the top and sometimes brutal action scenes. Its a pity they dont make them like this anymore.
