Looper 2012
Quite possibly the most overrated film of the year. There are long sequences of dialogue that actually drag the film down into 'dull' territory. The action sequences that are few and far between are handled well, but not to the level of lauding Looper as "This generations Matrix" More this generations "Johnny Mnemonic with dashes of Carrie"

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey 2012
A dull lifeless affair that deviates so far from the book about the only thing in it that is close to the original narrative are the character names. It may look good and suffers from the greatness of The Lord of the Rings trilogy that came before it. Another 6 hours of this money grabbing mess? Sheesh. No thanks Pete.

Moonrise Kingdom 2012
You either love Wes Andersons kookiness or you don't. If you do then you'll love this as all the staples are there. If you don't then, this may be a long haul for you. I like Bill Murray and despite being better in Rushmore, With added Ed Norton and BruceWillis makes this better than it should be. Not Andersons finest work, but far from his worst.

The Cabin in the Woods 2012
Interesting concept, pulled off very slicky. An enjoyable genre buster, in a similar way that Scream did years ago.
Neatly plotted, decent pacing. Only grumble is struggling to get my head around Thor wi out the blonde wig on.

Batman Begins 2005
Rewatching it in preparation for The Dark Knight Returns next month with my 11 year old (who was seeing it for the first time). With what we've seen from the trailers for TDKR I think that this film more so lends weight to both the Jokers and Banes motivations. Especially since we know that Liam Neeson will appear in TDKR. Once complete this will be one very clever trilogy.

Lincoln 2012
Spielberg does Gone With The White House. Without a vampire in sight, it's 2 & 1/2 hours of Abraham Lincoln Vote Hunter. Great performances from Day-Lewis & Lee Jones. When it's good it's great, but when it's not it really drags. What's with Spielbergs obsession with War films as well? Finally during the voting I swear I heard Brad Pitts voice as one of the off camera votes too.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower 2012
Absolutely delightful movie, the trailer completely Mis sells this movie. Really touches you on an emotional level. The only thing that detracts from being a 5 star movie is Emma Watsons eyebrow acting. However absolutely charming.

The Godfather 1972
One of the best movies ever made.
