  • Midnight in Paris 2011

    ★★★½ Watched 19 Feb, 2013

That was fun, wasn't it? Only in Paris, where the magic of city so rich in beauty will take an individual to different era. With an intro mainly focused on Paris' charmingly compact architecture and simple parks, Allen gives the viewer what Paris during the day because this film will focus much more on nightlife.

Midnight in Paris revolves around two selfish lovers who are engaged; Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams play that couple. Wilson seems to do a fair…

  • Searching for Sugar Man 2012

    ★★★★ Watched 18 Feb, 2013

A story about a musician by the sole name of Rodriguez. His background lies within a blue-collar Detroit where work is as hard as metal in their cars. An easy-going, selfless, artistic man who was taken advantage of by the music industry, mainly by the american record company which released his album. Rodriguez was continuously praised as the big-time artist that just didn't happen, but why? He didn't speak for himself, but would do so for others. His voice was…

  • Akira 1988

    ★★★ Watched 16 Feb, 2013

For animation to be that sophisticated in 1988, one can surely be appreciative for what Akira accomplished. Vivid colors painted throughout the animated film from the somber alleys to the blood bright red with brilliance.

Akira focuses on two friends within a biker gang. Rivalry lies within the city as opposing biker gangs gauge in battle. The film starts with a ongoing battle, which exposes them to one of the three gifted children--that's what gives life to the plot. Back…

  • The Graduate 1967

    ★★★½ Watched 29 Apr, 2012

The Graduate is a movie that stands the test of time. Helplessness and lack of direction is a feeling most can relate to, especially those who pursue any academic education after high school. A what-should-I-do-with-myself character that runs into the thought of love and intimacy. Hoffman delivered the young man needed for the film with shy, curious, and rebellious traits. His first movie as lead, yet it was an impressive one. Nichols puts the audience through Ben's perspective as The Graduate holds some wonderful shots and visual play. A invitation from Nichols that says let's follow Ben and the situations that unfold for him.

  • Valhalla Rising 2009

Refn had the opportunity to take his talent to the natural world, free of modern life, and shows you why he is one of better directors. Broken up to six parts as it follows the end of slave life early on, and the beginning of freedom for "one eye." Ambiguous ending, which leaves a bounty of interpretations. An obvious mirror is held up to religion and how they follow certain individuals while crowning them superior or godly. Superstitions also appear…

Dragged on fighting scenes with an eye for action.

  • The Cabin in the Woods 2012

    ★★★★ Watched 27 Apr, 2012

A movie that poked fun at most horror films. The intro was an interesting one, as it follows banter between two workers that you haven't seen in the trailers. Some of the introductions to the characters were dead on, while others were overlooked. The twist(s) the movie takes can be seen from afar, so any trailers seen before hand, won't take anything away from the movie. The first act was filled with chuckles as it sets up the film. During…
