🇵🇱 Steve G 🇵🇸’s review published on Letterboxd:
"Put Three Step away before he gets hurt!"
Three Step is John Steel's pet snake that he wears around his neck even though the reason he calls it Three Step is because if it bites you, you will be dead in three steps.
He wears it around his neck when, for instance, he's crawling out of a Vietcong tunnel after almost being blown up and spends a lot of his time trying to make it stay around his neck rather than tending to his poor mate who copped a bit more of the blast than he did.
But he only wears it when he's not sitting contemplatively on a swing with a bright pink sweater wrapped around his neck instead. It's not the only time a pink garment is viewed in this film when you least expect it. He pays a visit to a Vietnamese gang's HQ and the leader of the party that greets and boots him out is wearing a bright pink shirt. One of the henchmen in the final shootout is wearing a pink shirt, too. I couldn't tell if it was the same shirt. He was wearing it under a leather jacket.
Meanwhile, the likes of Ronny Cox, Sela Ward and Bernie Casey are wandering around looking a bit bemused by it all but trying to make the best of a bad situation whilst Martin Kove just doesn't even seem to try. He rides into the final scene, by the way, on a tank with pink lights.
Shannon Tweed pops up half an hour from the end and flashes some leg and climbs out of a pool in a very small bikini. She doesn't seem to be there for any other reason. Most importantly of all, though - Al Leong actually gets some lines! I think they're dubbed, however. But still, it's better than nothing.
This review's a bit all over the place, isn't it? Well, you haven't seen the film yet. In fact, you might say - "You weren't there, man! You weren't there!"
I love 80s action films.
