Moviedrome - UK Edition
Basically, it's a Moviedrome list for British films!
I've tried to leave the obvious titles off the list for the most part. One or two have snuck through, though. I'm sure there will be a debate about what is 'cult' and what isn't but, let's face it, half the films on the original Moviedrome weren't cult films either.
Phil Walsh also has previously done a similar and even better list along similar lines here which is well checking out, too.
Enjoy!
Nice list. If you're up for suggestions then the following are a good shout:
Last Resort
Restless Natives
Afraid of the Dark
Obsession
Dream Demon
When the Wind Blows
The Offence
Radio On
Overlord
Wings of Fame
The Medusa Touch
Young Adam
Loving Memory
Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself
Cheers, Adam! The only one on there I considered was When The Wind Blows - the rest I've either forgotten or not heard of. Will get adding them later, thanks!
(I can't believe I forgot The Offence, by the way.)
Nice Idea and some great suggestions. A few I’ve not seen that I’ll look out for too.
Also, if you are still looking for suggestions of films for inclusion, how about:
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Peeping Tom
Blow-Up
Black Narcissus
The Red Shoes
Hardware & Absolute Begginers?
@Cohaagen - I think Blow Up definitely qualifies, I'll add that, cheers.
@Matt - yes, I was going to add Absolute Beginners and forgot, ta.
What about Wheatly's films: Kill List and Down Terrace? Or isn't that what you're aiming for
Forgot them, Dirk - now added!
Awesome, Phil, will add those and link your list, too!
the original moviedrome was insnaely popular amongst teens, as there was the chance of seeing some boobs on telly. This usually led to disappointment to be fair.
Some more that have come to mind: A Zed & Two Noughts, The Devil Rides Out and the 1967 version of Bedazzled.
Good 'uns, ta!
Really interesting list! You prompted me to finish off this one letterboxd.com/antonomasia/list/cult-films-from-the-mark-radcliffe-show-1993/ I started ages ago, but turns out it doesn't contain that many British films.
Oops, and forgot to say that a lot of the BFI Flipside series are perfect for this too: letterboxd.com/moseharper/list/bfi-flipside/
That's a great list! I'm a huge fan of Mark Radcliffe but I wasn't listening to him at that time. Really interesting and thanks for linking to the other one as well, enjoyed looking through that.
