Argo 2012
Contrived, manipulative, unfunny, insubstantial, with no real suspense...good thing it's so forgettable.
Also anyone who could even think of giving Affleck an acting award should punch himself in the face (I'm looking at you, BAFTA).
Add a "Loosely" onto the "Based on Real Events" and maybe I'll bump it up a star. Or maybe nix that completely unnecessary storyline with the kid and the wife that made the ending even more eyeroll/gag-inducing.
Moral of the story: White people! AMURRRIKA! Canadian people are nice, don't do any real work, and leech all the glory from their neighbors to the south.

Paradise Now 2005
Wow. I didn't even realize there was no score until the credits rolled.
Tricky subject. Beautiful film.

Hoop Dreams 1994
I miss the days when Law and Order-esque sound effects and cutaways didn't accompany shocking moments of revelation.
