Gangster Squad 2013
What a disappointment. With so many great people in this film, I expected so much more. From the dull Josh Brolin to the high-pitched Ryan Gosling to the Dick-Tracy-comic-book-villain of Sean Penn, this film just kind of falls apart. The 3 high points in the movie are Giovanni Ribisi's charming depiction of the "tech guy," the woman who plays Brolin's wife and most noteably the cinematography of Los Angeles in the 1940's - which was stunning. Otherwise, skip it.

Texas Chainsaw 3D 2013
I can't for the life of me figure out why they bothered doing this film in 3D. There was nothing cool about the effects. Boring, unoriginal, no.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles 1987
I can't believe I made it this long without watching this film. Finally fixed that problem. Loved it from beginning to end. I miss the hell out of John Candy.

Blue Valentine 2010
This movie depressed and scared me to no end. It's an absolutely heartbreaking depiction of what can happen in relationships - how we give up on our dreams and change who we are because of what life throws at us. I basically cried for 2 hours.

The Way We Get By 2009
This is the story of Bill, Joan and Jerry - the Maine Troop Greeters. They've greeted over 750,000 troops and still going. This movie is also a deeper look into their own personal lives. It…

New York, I Love You 2009
Directed by Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding) this film is a rendition of the movie Paris, I Love You, which I have not seen. It’s an anthology film that follows 10 little vignettes about “love” and how people can still surprise you in New York City. As to be expected, some vignettes are more interesting than others. The one with Olivia Thirlby is cute and the one with Ethan Hawke was good too. Those are probably my favorites. It’s entertaining and charming, a good rainy day movie. The cast is pretty stacked. Some nice moments and connections but overall, I thought it was just okay.
