Stephen King...The Good, The Bad, and the Scary ..Expanded to 50*
When I used to read a lot; my guilty pleasure was the works of Stephen King. I believe that I have read all of his books, and most of his short stories. Almost every business flight I was on that lasted a few hours; Stephen King came along.
I have to admit he is my favorite author. The result is I have to see all of his works that are adapted to film and Mini Series. I have seen most of them several times. Here is my attempt to rank them starting with my FAVORITE (30) and adding 20 more I have seen.

I found it. It's not a Stephen King story after all. Killdozer, a 1974 made-for-tv movie with Robert Ulrick (remember him?) that got cult status. Killdozer Trailer You could easily forgive me for thinking it was a King story.
Stephanie: I received "11/12/63" for Christmas and have not read it yet! It looks to have about 900 pages. (we were discussing earlier :-). It has been a very big seller and you are correct; a movie is in the works. I thought he wanted to make the "Tower Trilogy" first , but; I guess they want to capitalize on the huge success of 11/12/63. There are rumours of at least 3 more films being discussed. He must have more films made from his stories than anyone! ?
lise: I knew you would find that! I can see why you thought it came from the mind of SK.
Haha 900 pages is a lot of words but that not what I meant by "wordy." I read a lot, I can handle longer books. Enjoy, I'll probably start it this weekend.
ShowBill is right, he is a great storyteller, this list of movies is quite impressive. I haven't read any of his books so I can't compare but I'm sure they aren't known for their writing, rather the story and mood etc etc. And if I recall correctly a lot of the great movies on this list are quite different from the books/stories. I think there is a books vs. movie list somewhere around here, that might be a good place to think about the comparison more
I'm with Stephanie, far too wordy for my taste. I try all the time to read his books, but after 30 pages of describing the leg of a chair in a dark room, I tune out and move on. I think a lot of of the films here do a good job of truncating his verbose tomes into interesting stories, so there is a backbone there, but I prefer my King in 90-minute sized bites. That's all I can fit in my gullet at one time.
Well said, Len! :)

King may be wordy, but never annoyingly so. At least to me. The type of books he writes need a good narrative and need to be entertaining. 90% of his books are and are worth the effort if you ask me!
Having said all that, I studied English literature and had to read Ulysses. The concept of wordy gets a whole new meaning after reading they one, let me tell you.
He is definitely my favorite "go to" author. I thoroughly enjoy most of his novels and short stories. I beleve he has an incredible, unique talent. I enjoy his writing style and his character creation and development is second to none. I look forward to all the films and TV specials based on his works. Some are better than others, but; I enjoy most.
Dirk: "Ulysses" There's a great idea for a summer blockbuster. You could write the script. It might be fun to break almost 300,00O words and 18 sections into a good screenplay.
:-)
OK: Updated. If anyone checks out this old list, I have added 20 more Stephen King movies or Mini Series that I have seen.
Can you believe how prolific and amazing Stephen King actually is! What other writer has this many films made from his works?
The first 3o on the list were ranked in the order of my FAVORITES (not necessarily the best). The last 20; I have not yet put in order.
I welcome any suggestions and would appreciate knowing what films you would rank higher or lower. Did I miss any ?
I will keep working on the personal favorite ranking.
