Silent J’s review:
Great cast, but Joseph Gordon Levitt and Mickey Rourke undoubtedly standout. Levitt is gritty, charismatic, and psychotc. Mickey Rourke is subtle, super cool, and...well Mickey Rourke. Diane Lane, Thomas Jane, and Rosario Dawson turn in pretty great performances as well. The direction is stylish. The suspense is effective. The story is unique and interesting told from the perspective of the hitman and the intended victim; leaving you to decide who you should root for. Flawed, but an exciting and enjoyable ride. I still can't believe this is by the same guy who directed Shakespeare in Love.
