As much as this is so well received and praised, I'm sorry, but I just didn't really dig this movie.
That isn't to say it's a bad film. There's stuff to like about it. The acting is really great, especially from Gene Hackman who was fantastic, and it's certainly a well made film. Problem is, for me, it's not a very interesting one. It has some intrigue to it because of it's concept, but it's too slow of a burn to keep my interest. I don't mind slow-burn films, but this one doesn't have much of any rewarding payoff. I never felt engaged with the story or the characters to care what happened next.
Again not a bad film, but it's not something I would call a classic. Maybe as time goes by my opinion will change but for now, I just didn't care for it.
