Silent J’s review:
The film drags on for too long near the end. Ending lacks some logic. This will seem a bit predictable for those like myself who've seen the Swedish film and/or read the book. It feels odd for it took place in Sweden, the characters are Swedish, but they all speak perfect English. On the other hand, this film has a kick ass soundtrack and great performances by everyone especially Rooney Mara who, in my opinion, gives a better performance as Lisbeth than Noomi Rapace, which got her a well deserved Oscar nomination. David Ficher has created a beautifully shot, engaging, and disturbing film that can be enjoyed by fans of the book, people who love a good mystery, and huge Fincher fans along with everyone in between.
Just watched this again and the accent thing did cross my mind too: English with a slight Swedish lilt. Oh well. It's the movies.
I liked this a star more than you, but we're on the same page. I'd really like to see Fincher take a stab at the rest of the trilogy.
